FORTIS HOUSE

Helping disaster-affected residents save
time and money by providing a highly resilient, sustainable, affordable and adaptable building design, for free.

The Bushfire Building Council of Australia has worked with community members in Shoalhaven, NSW to develop the disaster-resilient FORTIS House.

FORTIS House will make the re-building process easier, with free architectural drawings and handbooks that show community members, building designers and trades how to adapt FORTIS House and its principles to any house design, site and local risks.

The free FORTIS resources will be released on April 28, 2022.

Through our community design project, participants have:

Heard from BBCA’s team of trusted bushfire resilience and sustainability experts

Shared their experiences of their lifestyle in Shoalhaven and what ‘home’ means to them

Contributed to an innovative project that will help their community recover faster and stronger

Had their questions answered, found inspiration and gained confidence for their bushfire building journey
